Deck the Halls on Cherry Lane (2024)

Back to 7 Cherry Lane… for the final time?

Closing out our return to the titular home, we catch up on one couple’s story and add in a final two tales.

1966

Single scientist David, working on an early form of GPS and living with a totally definitely-not-a-secret-lover roommate, sees his quiet Christmas imposed upon by his equally single neighbour Stephanie. She’s won a Christmas variety show context and needs to pretend his home is hers for the cameras in time for an imminent broadcast.

1981

We check backing with John and Lizzie, a couple with a young child, another newly on the way, and an imminent move.

2000

Platonic friends Matt and Rebecca (Brooke D’Orsay finally in something not totally cringey!), realize their true feelings for each other.

——-

Once again, was very much a This Is Us style movie. Of the three follow-ups released in 2024, this was probably my favourite because of the 1966 storyline, though still relatively forgettable. When you’ve crammed 3 equally-weighted storylines into one movie, it’s hard to feel particularly connected to any of them. Not to mention, they didn’t really scream “Christmas movie!”

You’ll like this if…

You watched This Is Us and like that kind of non-linear storytelling.
