An alternate-reality Christmas
Another entry in the canon of movies that take place “at Christmas” but aren’t really Christmas movies. That said, this was a refreshing entry to the Countdown with a plot that didn’t require a successful woman abandoning her dreams for a man wearing flannel who runs a hot cocoa stand. Rather, in this case it’s Erin, wife to cardiac surgeon Adam, who awakes one day in a world where she didn’t give up her dreams of becoming a fashion designer to support her husband’s career. Honestly, I’d bet there are many a well-heeled partner who also wish this could happen sometimes, even if only temporarily… what if, indeed. In fact, in this case Erin and Adam were never even married, leading to some start introspection on her part as she considers how she could be a supportive spouse and still find personal fulfillment.
There’s a bit of Christmassy content in here but, other than the requisite red and green clothing on the movie poster, it really wasn’t bursting with yuletide cheer.
