The Christmas Cookbook (aka The X-Mas Club) (2025)

If you told me this was a student film, I’d believe you…

Things this movie had going for it: the classic red & green coordinated clothing on the movie posted… Ok, I’m out.

She’s a book editor (of objectively horrible literature), he’s a photographer who spends an inordinate amount of time running a social club for singles at Christmas. Started after he was left at the altar, to which he declared, “She could break my heart but she couldn’t break my Christmas spirit.” Sure, leaving someone at the altar sounds super harsh and he is undoubtedly handsome but also a mumbler. And the character was honestly just cringy and a downright jerk through most of the first act. Truly, if I was in her shoes I would have walked away right then and there, but, alas, not on Hallmark (or whatever studio greenlit this thing).

The hits kept coming with this one, unfortunately. Inconsistent lighting that at some points resembled an iPhone flashlight it was so harsh, poorly done makeup, showing off an engagement ring on the WRONG HAND. Come on! You gotta learn somewhere… I guess… but this was so poorly executed.

You’ll like this if…

You are also a grown adult with an unnatural fixation with cocoa (note: it’s called hot chocolate and anything more than a 1/2 cup is PLENTY for an adult).
